For long, people have been anxiously awaiting the tablet optimized version of Android called Android 3.0 or Honeycomb. We’ve already seen many upcoming tablet devices running Honeycomb, such as the LG Optimus Pad. However, Google’s been very tight-lipped about when Honeycomb will be rolled out for cellular handsets. However, it looks like that may be happening soon enough.
The answer comes from a recent Adobe event, where Adobe’s Anup Murarka explains that Flash 10.2 will be coming to both tablets and smartphones “in the next few weeks.”
How so? Well actually Adobe Flash 10.2 uses lesser CPU cycles to play back web video, possibly sustaining more battery life in Android devices as well as the BlackBerry tablet. On the other hand, Adobe had said that it can’t support the function in earlier versions of the Android OS and Google had to essentially add new capabilities in Android 3.0 Honeycomb so as to allow Flash 10.2 to capitalize on the hardware.
In a nutshell: Flash 10.2 requires Android 3.0 and Flash 10.2 is going to be rolled out for smartphones soon, so it definitely does entail that Android 3.0 will be coming out sooner than we thought.
