The amazingly popular location based startup called Foursquare has achieved great popularity in an interestingly short span of time. While Foursquare continues to grow by leaps and bounds, Foursquare founder and CEO Denis Crowley has said in an on-stage announcement at Mobile World Congress that Foursquare has added five new languages to its mobile application.
The new languages are:
Spanish, French, German, Italian and Japanese. Denis has said that the new app (version 2.2.5) will be available for the iPhone, Blackberry, and Android starting today.
However, despite the global popularity of Foursquare, the analytics platform for merchants and venue owners essentially remains oriented towards the US. Nevertheless, Crowley said that they were looking at further internationalisation. He further went on to add that Foursquare would be focusing specifically on the API this year.
Foursquare CEO also had some amazing figures to reveal before the audience at the Mobile World Congress. The Foursquare adoption figures stand at a staggering 6.5 million users, 2 million check-ins per day. This sums up to 420 million checkins and a 3,400% growth in the last year alone.
