HP recently revealed the HP Palm TouchPad, the webOS powered tablet device. While the specs and features of this tablet are surely something to obsess over, details like the pricing and availability were kept out of the announcement by HP. However, according to digitimes, HP may start selling the TouchPad starting April 2011. Details on that, after the break.
Citing sources from HP’s upstream component partners, digitimes claims that HP is set to start selling the TouchPad in April while shipments to start delivery will commence from the end of March.
The sources pointed out that HP internally is aiming to ship 45-48 million notebooks and tablet PCs combined in 2011. After deducting the volume of HP’s notebook shipment forecast, HP’s TouchPad series product shipments in 2011 are forecasted to be around 4-5 million units.
When the announcements were made, HP only hinted a possible spring release for its credit card sized webOS HP Veer phone while the TouchPad was said to be release by summer.
Until and unless we there is official word from HP, one can not be sure about these speculations. However, we’ll definitely let you know when the HP Palm TouchPad starts shipping.
