Tiny Umbrella Gets Updated to Fix Recovery Boot Loop on iOS 4.2.1

Soon after the release of GreenPois0n RC5.4 Untethered Jailbreak Tool by Chronic Dev Team, Apple was asking users with Unlocked iPhone 4 to upgrade to iOS 4.2.1 to protect their devices from being locked. But no need to worry folks as moments ago Notcom has released TinyUmbrella 4.21.12 with recovery boot loop fixes, which was a major bug in the previous release. It is currently with beta support for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.  For those of you who don’t know what is Tiny Umbrella, it is a tool which is used to save you SHSH Blobs regardless of jailbreak and helps you in getting out of rec0very mode.

Tinyumbrella

Right now it is only available for download for OS X users but Notcom, the developer of TinyUmbrella has said that he is currently working on the Windows version and will be available for download in a day or two.

Current version of  TinyUmbrella Supports:

  • iPhone 4
  • iPhone 3G[S]
  • iPhone 3G
  • iPod Touch
  • iPad

How to Save SHSH Blobs:

Step 1: Download and run TinyUmbrella.

Step 2: Now Connect your iDevice with your Mac. TinyUmbrella will detect your iDevice if its iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS3G, iPod Touch 4G, 3G 2G, iPad or Apple TV 2G.

Step 3: Hit the Save SHSH button at Top-Right side of the window. (Make sure iTunes is closed)

Now TinyUmbrella will save SHSH blobs of the latest firmware and generate a ticket to save SHSH blobs for the latest firmware to Cydia server. Congrats! you have completed the process.

Remember: In order for the ‘Fix Recovery’ button to be enabled you must put your device in DFU. Once the ‘Fix Recovery’ button is enabled, click the button then click ‘Yes’ on the confirmation and wait. Your device should reboot out of the recovery loop!

If my ipod touch is locked in recovery mode, how do I put in DFU mode. I can’t get if off the screen with the iTunes logo/USB port?

@andy: Download iREB from iH8sn0w and simply run it to put your iPod touch in DFU mode.
