We know that Apple’s tablet market share has dropped since Android tablets have started gaining popularity, and while at the Mobile World Congress Samsung revealed a successor to its previous 7-inch Android powered Galaxy Tab, a 10.1-inch Honeycomb powered Galaxy Tab, the room between these two devices still remains unfilled. Now, Samsung might be launching an 8.9-inch Galaxy Tab come March 22nd. Details after the break.
Samsung hints at “more surprises” on its Facebook page:
Were you excited about the introduction of our GALAXY Tab 10.1 at 2011 Mobile World Congress? If you so, we’ve got more surprises in store at our UNPACKED event on 3/22!
Considering the invite attached above it looks like the Samsung Mobile team is is going to organise a Mobile Unpacked event at CTIA in Orlando and it is pretty obvious from the image above that the focus will be on a new size tablet.
The reason why I think this may be the launch event of a 8.9-inch Galaxy Tab is that the image above shows 8 and 9 between 7 and 10, and we already know about the 7-inch and 10.1-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab, so it is only fair to assume that this event may bring a 8.9-inch Android powered Galaxy Tab.
We’ll be covering the event come March 22nd, so stay tuned!
