Finally, it was at the iPad 2 launch event yesterday that Apple unveiled the next version of iOS, iOS 4.3, and it has some great new features built in to it, that we’d like to show you. Hit the break for more details.
Primarily, one of the major improvements in iOS 4.3, is going to be considerably faster Safari performance. As in iOS 4.3, Apple has ported the Nitro JavaScript engine from the Mac OS, over to the iOS 4.3, meaning that Safari now loads Java Script up to 2x faster.
Next, iOS 4.3 brings iTunes home sharing to your iOS devices. If your device is running iOS 4.3, you can utilize your wireless connection to scour through the content in your iTunes library, and seamlessly play it over that very wireless connection, all thanks to iOS 4.3
Then, a big change in iOS 4.3 comes in form of AirPlay improvements. Initially, AirPlay was launched back with iOS 4.2. AirPlay allows you beam videos and photos to your AppleTV using your wireless connection. Now, in iOS 4.3, there have been significant improvements in that.
One of the nice changes in iOS 4.3 include the much wanted option to change the preference of the iPad lock switch. By default, the iPad lock switch only muted the device, however now you can configure the preference as per your desire as iOS 4.3 lets you choose whether you want the iPad lock switch to mute your iPad or lock its screen rotation.
The iOS 4.3 also brings Personal Hotspot feature to the GSM iPhone 4s. Personal Hotspot allows you to share the 3G internet connection on your iPhone 4 with up to 5 other devices, for which the iPhone 4 creates a wireless network. iOS 4.3 brings Personal Hotspot to the GSM iPhone 4.
This was just a little overview of the functions coming in iOS 4.3. Apple said yesterday that they will release iOS 4.3 starting March 11.
The iOS 4.3 supports both the iPad models, the GSM iPhone 4 and the 3rd-gen and 4th-gen iPod touch. Support for the iPhone 3G has been dropped.
That’s practically pretty much that’s new, essentially, in iOS 4.3.
