Earlier, we told you that notorious hacker George Hotz a.k.a Geohot will try to hack Windows phone 7 at Pwn2Own, and yes, we all were pretty excited about seeing a Windows Phone 7 exploit coming from Geohot. However, it looks like that may not happen right now, as Geohot has withdrawn from the annual Pwn2Own competition in order to concentrate on his legal battle against Sony.
Geohot’s legal battle against Sony started when he pushed out a jailbreak exploit for the PlayStation 3 and Sony sued him over it and later started banning jailbroken PS3 owners from PSN. While it has been rumoured that Microsoft donated a huge sum of money to Geohot for fighting Sony in court, the legal battle still ensues and obviously, Geohot is quite caught up with it.
This probably is the reason why Geohot has withdrawn from the annual Pwn2Own competition, because as we all know, George Hotz is not someone who would shy away from a jailbreaking/hacking challenge.
For those of you who are actually worried that they won’t see a Windows Phone 7 exploit, there’s no need to worry as the folks from Team Anonymous and Anonymous_1 are going to be there, and will attempt at hacking Windows Phone 7.
