Earlier today, the iPhone Dev Team released PwnageTool 4.3 for Mac and Redsn0w 0.9.6rc9 for iOS 4.3.1 untethered jailbreak. Here’s how to jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 untethered using Redsn0w 0.9.6. That aside, iH8sn0w has also updated Sn0wbreeze today, which can now also jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 untethered for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. As before, this does not work on the iPad 2. This guide will tell you how to jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 untethered using Sn0wbreeze v2.5 on Windows for Apple TV 2, iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Sn0wbreeze 2.5 retains the old baseband on your iPhone so that it can be unlock later using ultrasn0w.
Pre-requisites:
Download Sn0wbreeze 2.5 for Windows
Download iTunes 10.2.1
Download iOS 4.3.1 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch
Step 1: Start Sn0wbreeze 2.5 and click the blue arrow button to proceed. Then, click on Browse to select the iOS 4.3.1.ipsw that we downloaded earlier. Sn0wbreeze 2.5 will then verify the .ipsw file
The following screen will be shown once the verification has successfully completed.
Step 2: Now after clicking the blue arrow to proceed from the screen shown above, select Expert Mode followed by Build IPSW and then click on the blue arrow to proceed further.
Remember: The iPhone Dev-Team is working on ultrasn0w unlock for iOS 4.3.1. Unlockers should stay away from stock iOS 4.3.1 at the moment.
It’ll take Sn0wbreeze 2.5 sometime to cook your custom iOS 4.3.1 ipsw. Meanwhile, you can also play Pac-Mac while Sn0wbreeze cooks the custom ipsw.
Once Sn0wbreeze 2.5 has successfully cooked your custom iOS 4.3.1 ipsw, it will display the following message:
Step 3: Now, it is time to put your iOS device in DFU mode. Sn0wbreeze 2.5 will then present on screen instructions on how to put your device in DFU mode.
First, after you have switched off your iDevice, Hold the Power and Home button together for 5 seconds. Then, release the Power button but keep holding the Home button. Your device will now be in DFU mode.
Step 4: Open up iTunes. Select your iOS device from the sidebar. Press and hold the Shift key and click Restore. You have to click Restore and not Update or Check for Update. Release the Shift key once a new window pops up. iTunes will now ask you to proceed to the location where you’ve your custom iOS 4.3.1 ipsw. Select the Sn0wbreeze cooked iOS 4.3.1 firmware file and click OK.
Step 5: Let iTunes work. Don’t panic and do anything stupid as iTunes is working through a series of automated steps that will restore your iOS device to the custom iOS 4.3.1 firmware. Your device will be showing a progress bar by this time. Once the installation has successfully completed, your device will be jailbroken (untethered) on iOS 4.3.1.
How to unlock iOS 4.3.1
Ultrasn0w 1.2 does not work on iOS 4.3.1. The iPhone Dev-Team is going to push out an update soon for iOS 4.3.1 unlock. Ultrasn0w will unlock basebands 01.59.00, 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04 and 06.15.00 on iOS 4.3.1.
