Later that day, iH8sn0w released Sn0wbreeze 2.5 for Windows, which brings the ability to jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 (iOS 4.3) untethered on Apple TV 2. This guide will tell you how to jailbreak your Apple TV 2 untethered on iOS 4.2.1 using Sn0wbreeze 2.5 for Windows.
How To Jailbreak Apple TV 2 iOS 4.2.1 (iOS 4.3) Untethered Using Sn0wbreeze 2.5 for Windows
Pre-requisites:
Download Sn0wbreeze 2.5 for Windows
Download iReb RC4 for Windows
Download iOS 4.2.1 for Apple TV
Download iTunes 10.2.1
Step 1: Start Sn0wbreeze 2.5 for Windows and click the blue arrow button to proceed
Step 2: Click on Browse and navigate to the folder where you have downloaded iOS 4.2.1 ipsw for Apple TV 2.
Sn0wbreeze 2.5 will then process and recognize the Apple TV 4.2.1 ipsw that was previously downloaded, and will show the following message. Then, click on the blue arrow button to proceed
As there are no other steps necessary, Sn0wbreeze 2.5 will straight away start cooking the custom iOS 4.2.1 ipsw for Apple TV 2.
The following message will be displayed once Sn0wbreeze 2.5 successfully cooks the custom iOS 4.2.1 ipsw for Apple TV 2:
How To Put Apple TV 2 In DFU Mode
So to restore your Apple TV 2 to custom iOS 4.2.1, you first need to put it in pwned DFU mode. For that purpose, download iREB RC4 for Windows (link given above).
Step 3: Start iREB RC4 and click on Apple TV 2
Follow the onscreen instructions to put your Apple TV 2 in DFU mode.
- Press Menu + Play/Pause together for 7 seconds then release. Your Apple TV 2 will now be in DFU mode
If you do the step correctly, iREB will work its magic and put your Apple TV 2 in pwned DFU mode
Step 4: Start iTunes 10.2.1. It will automatically detect your Apple TV 2 in DFU mode. Press and hold down the Shift key and click on Restore. Then, select the custom Apple TV 2 iOS 4.2.1 ipsw that Sn0wbreeze 2.5 created and placed on your desktop.
Step 5: Let iTunes work. Don’t panic and do anything stupid as iTunes is working through a series of automated steps that will restore Apple TV 2 to custom iOS 4.2.1 firmware. After the installation process completes successfully, iTunes will show the following message:
That’s it! Your Apple TV 2 is now running iOS 4.2.1 which has been jailbroken untethered. Simply connect your Apple TV 2 to your television set and you will notice nitoTV in the main menu.

I keep getting error 14 or 21 when i try and restore in iTunes. Any suggestions? i got the error 1600 but only once.

Error 14 is a common error while trying to restore Apple TV 2 to custom iOS 4.2.1 firmware. It looks like Sn0wbreeze for Windows has some issues. Neverthless, youtube.com/cagex007 uploaded a custom iOS 4.2.1 ipsw file which he made from PwnageTool 4.3 for Mac. Download this file and follow the rest of the procedure. It should work like a charm.
