We’ve extensively been covering Microsoft Windows 8 and the latest news now is that build 7850 of Windows 8 has leaked on FTP. Windows 8 build 6.1.7850.0.winmain_win8m1.100922-1508 to be exact, which is the last build for Windows 8 Milestone 1. While R27 hasn’t given out the FTP link as yet, the screenshot is enough to prove the legitimacy. Needless to say, we shall see a torrent of Windows 8 build 7850 hitting the web soon.
Also, Microsoft is working to natively integrate SmartScreen file checking security inside Windows 8. SmartScreen file checking security will be able to protect the system against various types viruses and malware.
Microsoft is also revamping OEM BIOS activation in Windows 8. Basically, the new activation method will allow manufacturers to pre-activate copies of Windows 8 that are going to be used on their machines. OA or OEM BIOS activation was first introduced with Windows XP and version 2.0 was shipped with Windows Vista.
Windows 8 will also have a new Immersive UI and a native PDF reader, which is geared towards small touch-based devices like tablets and phones. Also, an application called Modern Reader in Windows 8 includes its own PDF reader.
According to some previously leaked Windows 8 installation screenshots, it looks like Microsoft may be implementing the Metro UI feel in to Windows 8. The leaked Windows 8 installation screenshot were from build 7955 of Windows 8 and these screenshots clearly show that Microsoft is going to implement Metro UI in Windows 8 as well as the next version of Microsoft Office.
Microsoft is working on an all new feature for the yet to be released Windows 8, and that is History Vault. History Vault on Windows 8 will let you backup your data automatically via the Shadow Copies feature of Windows, the backup feature will also be able to restore files to a particular date/time on the Windows 8 powered machine will also allowing users to select files and restore them to different timestamps.
