Jailbreak iOS 4.3.3 on iPad, iPhone & iPod touch using RedsnOw 0.9.6

Apple today has released two new versions of iOS firmware, iOS 4.2.8 for Verizon iPhone 4 and iOS 4.3.3 for iPhone 3G[S], iPhone 4, iPad and iPod touch. Good news is Apple has not not fixed ion1c’s untether exploit  which was used to untethered jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 & 4.3.2. Famous iPhone hacker Comex has just confirmed that iOS 4.3.3 is still vulnerable to ion1c’s untether exploit. Dev team is working hard to bring the new version of RedsnOw jailbreak tool for untethered jailbreak. Meanwhile you can still jailbreak your iPhone, iPad & iPad but it will be tethered. Here is a complete step by step how to guide on how you can do so.

How to Jailbreak iOS 4.3.3 Tethered On iPhone, iPad, iPod touch using Redsn0w 0.9.6rc14

Before you begin the process you need to get the following files on your PC.

Download iOS 4.3.3 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

Download iTunes 10.2.2

Download Redsn0w 0.9.6rc14 for Windows

Download Redsn0w 0.9.6rc14 for Mac

Step 1: Download the respective iOS 4.3.3 firmware file for your iOS device and restore it to iOS 4.3.3 via iTunes 10.2.2.

Step 2: Once your device is restored to stock iOS 4.3.3, open up Redsn0w 0.9.6rc14 and click on Browse to select the 4.3.3.ipsw file that you downloaded earlier.

Jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 Untethered

Once you click Open, Redsn0w will then indentify the 4.3.3.ipsw file. When identification successfully completes, Redsn0w 0.9.6rc14 will show the following message:

Jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 untethered

Step 3: Click “Next“. Make sure to check Install Cydia options.

Jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 untethered

Remember: It is essential that your device is powered OFF and connected to your computer before you click next. Double check, and then click on Next.

Jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 untetheredRedsn0w 0.9.6rc14 will then show instructions on how to put your device in DFU mode. Follow them carefully to put your device in DFU mode.

  • Hold Power button for 3 seconds
  • Then hold Power and Home buttons together for 10 seconds
  • Release Power button but keep holding Home button till installation starts

Step 4: Redsn0w will now work its magic on your device. A series of automated steps will start, and once they are complete, your iOS device will reboot automatically.

Congratulations Your device is now running tethered jailbroken iOS 4.3.3.

hi there, i just buy new iphone 4 with ios 4.3.3
    how to jailbreak this device?

  22. Todd July 26th, 2011 at 3:43 am #

I have iPad 1G with version 3.2. It is jailbroken via jailbreakme.com. It is possible to upgrade to 4.3.3, the last IOS with a untethered jailbreak, or can I only upgrade to the latest version (4.5)?

    Thanks!!

  23. Icon July 26th, 2011 at 11:46 am #

If you upgrade it to 4.5 you won’t be able do a untethered jailbreak.

This tutorial advises to download iTunes 10.2.2, I have iTunes 10.3.1.55. Am I supposed to downgrade my current iTunes to 10.2.2??? or can I use my current iTunes for this Jailbreak?

And lastly my iPhone 4g already has iOS 4.3.3, do I “restore” iOS 4.3.3 with iTunes…it sounds redundant?

Please excuse these basic questions, but I am new to this, and really want to Jailbreak my phone for the first time and want to do it right. Thanks

  25. Icon July 27th, 2011 at 2:21 pm #

We advise you should downgrade your iTunes and for the second question no you don’t need to restore your iOS. Do let me know if you have any trouble jailbreaking your iPhone

OK, so I’m trying to do this, but my iPod randomly turns on during the installation. However, redsn0w doesn’t acknowledge this, and it stays on “exploiting with limera1n” for at least 10 minutes, and nothing’s happened yet. Is it supposed to take this long to finish?

I have the Iphone 3gs. I’m just tryin to update my software to 4.3.3. I don’t have a mac or pc. What do I do and what will jailbreaking do for me. I’m tech challenged.

  28. Icon August 6th, 2011 at 9:45 pm #

Use Redsn0w for Windows to Jailbreak your iPhone 3GS

  29. Swedenguy111 August 11th, 2011 at 9:47 am #

When I try to identify the package I get the message: Unabled to recognize specified IPSW.
I’m trying to jailbrake my ipod 4th generation and I don’t know how to proceed…

I just jailbroke my iPhone 4.3.5 with the 4.3.3 .ipsw. After it has gone through the jailbreak and reboots, the screen on my phone just tells me that I have to plug it into iTunes. This has happened twice. Any idea of what could’ve gone wrong??
