The iPad 2 plant explosion yesterday, at the new Foxconn manufacturing facility which particularly makes iPad 2 units, has left 2 dead and 16 injured. The iPad 2 plant explosion at the facility in Chengdu may have been caused by fine powder which is used in the iPad 2 manufacturing process.
The A5 building of the iPad 2 manufacturer, in which the explosion occurred is said to be specifically for the production of iPad 2 units. This Foxconn facility opened last year.
This iPad 2 manufacturer hasn’t had any good luck with its employees either. In the past, workers have tried to commit suicides because of the hectic work they had to do for nominal compensation, and Apple has come under a lot of negative sentiment for that as well. Foxconn has since then tried to calm down the situation by increasing salaries and reducing work hours.
Anyhow, whether or not this explosion at iPad 2 plant means that there is going to be an inevitable shortfall in the supply of iPad 2 units, is yet to be seen. Till we get more on that, see the video embedded below of the burning iPad 2 production plant.

wow… my ipad 2 was just shipped from that plant a week ago.
