It has been well over a month that Apple sued Samsung. Now, in course of that, Samsung has demanded that Apple show them the next generation iPhone, may it be called the iPhone 4S or iPhone 5, and the iPad 3 as well. Previously, Apple demanded that Samsung show them their unreleased devices.
Apple sued Samsung claiming that the company had done “blatant” copying of its products and has purposefully infringed Apple patents. The lawsuit was brought against the Galaxy devices which include Samsung Galaxy handsets and the Galaxy Tab. However, Samsung immediately replied to these claims by countersuing Apple.
In the court documents filed when the lawsuit was brought, Apple claimed that Samsung purposefully chose to copy many elements of the iPhone when it could have chosen a different path. The Cupertino based company has brought a total of 16 claims against Samsung out of which 10 are patent infringements.
Basically, the reason why Samsung wants to see next generation iPhone and iPad regardless of what their retail names might be, is because the manufacturer wants to make sure that they do not encounter any such legal troubles from Apple when they launch their future devices. Samsung may make considerable changes to its future products it they’re found to be similar to Apple’s products.
Nevertheless, it is possible that Apple would only show its next generation devices to the legal team at Samsung. There’s no point in involving the manufacturing division, as they probably already have an idea of what Apple is coming up with, given the fact that Samsung is an important parts supplier for Apple.
Will Apple agree to Samsung’s demand? We know the company is really defensive and secretive when it comes to new products, so will they let Samsung, even if its their legal team, see the new devices? We’ll let you know when we hear more.
