The obvious question on our minds: Will it be possible to jailbreak iPhone 4S or jailbreak iPhone 5? The next generation iPhone has yet to be released, but we just can’t wait to find out whether or not it will be possible to jailbreak the iPhone 4S or iPhone 5. In this post, we shall debate the possibility of an iPhone 4S / iPhone 5 jailbreak release.

We already know that the next generation iPhone is going to have a dual core processor. In the iPad 2, Apple debuted its dual core processor, the A5, and that’s exactly what the next iPhone is going to come with. So since the hardware has been changed, it has not yet been possible to jailbreak iPad 2 even after nearly three months since launch. While an iPad 2 jailbreak release is expected within the next three weeks, one can expect similar issues to put hurdles in way of an iPhone 4S jailbreak or iPhone 5 jailbreak.
No jailbreak means no way to unlock iPhone 4S or unlock iPhone 5. It is mandatory for an iPhone to be jailbroken before it can be software unlocked. The next generation iPhone is definitely going to come bearing iOS 5, and iOS 5 would need new tethered/untethered jailbreak exploits and the higher baseband versions will have to be supported by the software unlock. So one can see where this is all headed and when all of these doubts will be cleared. All we know for sure now is:
- The next generation iPhone will come with the new A5 processor that has put hurdles in the path of jailbreaking
- New jailbreak exploits will be needed for iOS 5, and its not easy to find exploits as Apple is likely to patch all previous ones
- Higher baseband versions would mean development of newer version of software unlock, which also requires considerable time
All that being said, it can be said for sure that the Dev Teams will have a lot on their plates when the new hardware and software comes out. Nevertheless, i’ll put my faith behind these people, because they have been able to come up with solutions in the past, and something tells me, we can count on them to jailbreak iPhone 4S and jailbreak iPhone 5 as well.
