Save Old iOS Firmware SHSH Blobs Using iFaith

iH8sn0w has finally revealed his mystery project. Introducing iFaith, a SHSH blobs dumper for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch which even supports devices on older iOS firmwares, blobs of which Apple has discontinued signing.

So what does this mean for you? Well it means that you’ll be able to easily downgrade fimware on iOS devices to any previous version.

iFaith actually backs up SHSH blobs from old firmwares which are running on users devices and stores them on its server., currently running on the device for later use, onto iFaith’s own remote server. Confused? Well if you know the procedure of downgrading iOS firmware after Apple introduced SHSH blobs, you might be aware that its not that easy for the average joe. iFaith changes that by allowing users to downgrade iOS firmware via iTunes just as easily as they upgrade it.

iFaith also lets users to create custom iOS .ipsw files using those very SHSH blobs. Once you have a custom .ipsw, its really easy to load the firmware on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch through iTunes.

All iOS devices vulnerable to the Limera1n jailbreak exploit are compatible to be used with iFaith. These devices include 3G and 4G iPod touch, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, the original iPad and Apple TV 2G. Since there’s no jailbreak exploit for iPad 2 yet, hence it is not supported.

iH8sn0w has currently released the Windows variant of iFaith, however he has promised that iFaith for Mac is coming soon.
