It was yesterday at WWDC 2011, when Apple finally unveiled iOS 5, the next generation software for iOS devices. For end users, iOS 5 will be released this fall, whereas Apple seeded beta 1 of iOS 5 yesterday for developers. So in order to download iOS 5 beta 1 on iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, you need a developer account with Apple that alone costs $99/year. However, we’ve got the direct download links here for you to download iOS 5 beta 1 for free.
Remember: Installing developer beta firmware on your iOS device requires that the UDID of your device is activated. If you have an unactivated device, installing beta firmware on it will make it useless. Therefore, it is mandatory for you to get the UDID of your iOS device activated, before you download and install iOS 5 beta 1 on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
To find out the UDID of your iDevice, simply connect it to your computer and start iTunes. Select your device from the taskbar on the left and click where it says Serial Number. It will automatically switch to UDID and will show you a long string of numbers and alphabets. That is your UDID, and you need to get it activated.
