Let’s face it. We’ve all gone wary of waiting for an iPad 2 jailbreak. Now, the good news is that an iPad 2 jailbreak may be coming very soon with JailbreakMe 3.0. Those who have been in the jaibreaking scene since the days of iOS 4.0, would know what JailbreakMe is. Chances are, JailbreakMe 3.0 could finally bring an iPad 2 jailbreak.
Up till now, we know that the Chronic Dev Team is working on their own iPad 2 jailbreak program which won’t be called Greenpois0n. An entirely new program will be created for that matter. Also, p0sixninja had challenged Geohot to dump the A5 bootrom faster than he can, while p0sixninja recently gave an ETA of 2-3 weeks, there have been no updates on Geohot iPad 2 jailbreak.
The reason why the iPad 2 can’t be jailbroken is because the Limera1n exploit found in A4 based devices, does not exist in the iPad 2 which has an A5 processor that is not vulnerable to the Limera1n exploit. Basically, change of hardware has made it difficult to jailbreak iPad 2, and will also make jailbreaking the next generation iPhone as well.
JailbreakMe was simple to operate as compared to the other jailbreaking programs. Users running stock iOS 4.0 or 4.0.1 simply had to visit jailbreakme.com on their iDevices and would have to “slide to jailbreak” once the website came up. It was as easy as that.
A little while ago, Comex updated the JailbreakMe website, which was for long outdated as Apple had patched the exploit in iOS 4.0.2, and this is what the website is displaying right now:
The picture above clearly says PDF, which means that it is pointing towards a PDF based exploit. We don’t know as yet which devices is this for and for what iOS firmware versions its going to be compatible with. We just hope for an early iPad 2 jailbreak release!
