It is certainly not wrong to say that Google has transformed much of the World Wide Web since its inception. In the beginning, Google not only appeared as a new search engine on the block, it also opened doors to countless possibilities. As time passed, it became the most widely used search engine. In fact, the word “Google” also somehow turned into an urban legend. “Google it” is surely not an alien term to us, for instance. But we’re all aware that Google is not merely a search engine. There are also tons of other reasons for its success. We have Gmail, Google Maps, Google Docs, etc., to name a few. And who can ever forget Chrome, Google’s very own web browser!
On the other hand, Apple’s iPhone has transformed the world of pocket-gadgets. The amount of features it offers us is fascinating. Every other person you come across longs for an iPhone.
However, in order to carry out a Google search on your iPhone, you would first need to launch an app. There is no easier way. But there’s some good news for the users of jailbroken iPhones in the shape of QuickGoogle.
QuickGoogle is an app, specifically for jailbroken iOS devices, that lets you carry out a Google search regardless of whether you are inside an app or the home screen.
What makes it different from the conventional Google app though, is that it gives you the advantage of accessing it from anywhere on your device; a feature that’s missing in other apps. That’s the reason why it’s ideal for most of us. It gives us faster connectivity than ever before.
All you’ve got to do is install the app from the Cydia store and set up an Activator action for it. Using the app is a piece of cake. A simple gesture brings up a search box, just enter your query off you go!
There is a feature missing in the app though. It does not let you directly search images or news, which makes the task slower for you if you are looking for images, for instance. Let’s hope that this feature gets introduced in a newer version.
To conclude, QuickGoogle is a blessing for those wishing to perform quick searches, or the impatient ones among us. Searching Google from an iOS device has never been this simple. Oh, and before you get too excited, make sure your device is jailbroken! You can either opt for Redsn0w or Sn0wbreeze jailbreaks for your iOS 5. Jailbreak guides for older iOS firmwares are also available. You can have a look at a video demo:
