The much awaited JailbreakMe 3.0 iPad 2 jailbreak won’t support the recently released iOS 5 beta 1, the developer Comex has confirmed. JailbreakMe 3.0 will only jailbreak iPad 2 running iOS 4.2.1 to iOS 4.3.3.
JailbreakMe is simple to operate as compared to the other jailbreaking programs. Users running stock iOS 4.0 or 4.0.1 simply have to visit jailbreakme.com on their iDevices and have to “slide to jailbreak” once the website comes up.
The reason why the iPad 2 can’t be jailbroken is because the Limera1n exploit found in A4 based devices, does not exist in the iPad 2 which has an A5 processor that is not vulnerable to the Limera1n exploit. Basically, change of hardware has made it difficult to jailbreak iPad 2, and will also make jailbreaking the next generation iPhone as well.
Up till now, we know that the Chronic Dev Team is working on their own iPad 2 jailbreak program which won’t be called Greenpois0n. An entirely new program will be created for that matter. Also,p0sixninja had challenged Geohot to dump the A5 bootrom faster than he can, while p0sixninja recently gave an ETA of 2-3 weeks, there have been no updates on Geohot iPad 2 jailbreak.
About a week ago, Comex, the developer of JailbreakMe teased a potential PDF based exploit for iPad 2 jailbreak. It should be kept in mind that only Comex has been able to preview a working iPad 2 jailbreak till date. There’s two things about JailbreakMe 3.0 that you ought to know. First, the jailbreak process will be considerably faster using JailbreakMe 3.0 as it takes a totally different stashing approaching that decreases the overall jailbreak time. JailbreakMe 3.0 will also support iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch 3G, 4G and the first generation iPad. Bear in mind that JailbreakMe 3.0 will not jailbreak iOS 5 on your iPad 2, so it is best to downgrade iPad 2 to iOS 4.3.3 now so that you can easily jailbreak it.
We don’t know whether or not Comex plans on including support for iOS 5 beta 2 jailbreak in JailbreakMe 3.0 as iOS 5 beta 1 will expire on August 4, 2011. That aside, we really are waiting anxiously for the iPad 2 jailbreak release, and will definitely post about it to let you guys know when JailbreakMe 3.0 finally goes live.
