Apple seeded the first pre-release version of iOS 5 to developers on June 7, a day after WWDC 2011 where it was previewed for the first time ever. Now what had most jailbreakers concerned, was the fact that whether or not it would be possible to jailbreak iOS 5, as many thought that OTA delta updates in iOS 5 could stop jailbreaking. We know that’s not the case, and iOS 5 beta has been jailbroken already. What’s good to know that the very same redsn0w 0.9.8b1 release for jailbreaking iOS 5 beta 1, will also jailbreak iOS 5 beta 2 tethered on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
Only yesterday, Apple seeded the second pre-release version of iOS 5 to developers. iOS 5 beta 1 will expire on August 4, if you’re wondering. iOS 5 beta 2 brings various performance and bug fixes as well as battery life improvement. So when we heard about iOS 5 beta 2 release, immediately the question sprung to our minds whether or not it was possible to jailbreak iOS 5 beta 2. MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev Team then tweeted an answer to our problem. We assure you, the tweet came bearing good news:

It turns out that Apple has not patched iOS 5 beta jailbreak in this release. The previous release of redsn0w, which was initially meant for jailbreaking iOS 5 beta 1, will also jailbreak iOS 5 beta 2. However, when redsn0w asks you to select the corresponding IPSW, you have to select iOS 5 beta 2 .ipsw file, and not the iOS 5 beta 1 .ipsw file. Its just a simple step. After the IPSW is successfully identified, redsn0w 0.9.8b1 will jailbreak your iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch 3G 4G and iPad 1G on iOS 5 beta 2. Please note that the iPad 2 can not be jailbroken as of now.
We actually had a hunch that redsn0w 0.9.8b1 will continue to jailbreak future iOS 5 betas, as it was described by our very own ICON:
The way redsn0w works, you will very likely be able to use this on upcoming iOS5 betas, just by continuing to point redsn0w at the 5.0b1 IPSW. So keep that IPSW handy!
A word of advice though, if you are on a software unlocked iPhone, please stay away from iOS 5 as of now, because there is no unlock available for iOS 5.
