It looks like an iTunes 10.3.2 beta release for Windows and Mac may not be that far off. Apple usually ships out a new version of iTunes whenever a new firmware upgrade is made available, and we all know that iOS 4.3.4 is due to drop in a couple of days. IF that does happen, we shall be having yet another public beta of iTunes on our hands.
Earlier this week, Comex finally released his long awaited iPad 2 jailbreak. JailbreakMe 3.0 was released to anxious jailbreakers worldwide and it finally allowed the iPad 2 to be jailbroken. Other than that, JailbreakMe 3.0 also jailbreaks all supported iOS devices running iOS 4.3 to 4.3.3. Only the iPad 2 is jailbroken on iOS 4.3.3 right now and Comex has said that he plans on adding support for older firmwares of iPad 2 soon.
Actually, Comex was put on an unwanted deadline when JailbreakMe beta leaked on the internet. Since that happened, it became evident that Apple had got their hands on the unreleased exploit and would have already started working on patching it, even before Comex officially released it. Time and again, we have advised our readers to save iPad 2 SHSH blobs as once Apple releases iOS 4.3.4, downgrading to iOS 4.3.3 is going to be impossible is the SHSH blobs aren’t saved. It should be kept in mind that JailbreakMe 3.0 will not work with iOS 4.3.4, meaning that your iPad 2 will then lose its jailbreak.
Those devices which are susceptible to the Limera1n exploit won’t be affected that much by iOS 4.3.4 release, as redsn0w, sn0wbreeze and pwnagetool would just have to be update once, and they would bring iOS 4.3.4 jailbreak.
So why does Apple need to roll out iOS 4.3.4 any way? Basically, JailbreakMe 3.0 uses a vulnerability in mobile Safari that can be exploited be mischievous hackers as well. While Comex himself released PDF Patcher 2 in Cydia, which closes the hole that JailbreakMe 3.0 uses, Apple will officially release a firmware upgrade to patch this hole, and will stop JailbreakMe 3.0 from jailbreaking iOS devices.
It is expected that iOS 4.3.4 will be released in the coming weeks. When that happens, iTunes 10.3.2 beta will also be released and we’ll definitely let you know when that happens. Stay tuned.
