We all love jailbreak tweaks and here at ChipHazard, we try out the latest jailbreak tweaks that go live in Cydia each day and write detailed posts on them for our readers. Earlier today, a new tweak caught our attention in Cydia. Its called SBBrightness, and its function is simple. Adding a brightness slider to the SpringBoard of your jailbroken iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
Jailbreaking allows you to customize your iOS device in variety of ways that are otherwise not allowed by Apple. Although the company is not entirely comfortable with the whole jailbreaking scene as piracy of apps is a strong reason behind piracy of apps. While some merely jailbreak their device in order to gain access to the wide variety of jailbreak tweaks and themes.
Cydia, the alternative to the App Store, houses a plethora of tweaks and themes. You can also add more repositories in Cydia depending on what type of tweaks you want to install. The best part is that most of the content is absolutely free of charge, whereas some developers opt to charge customers from their tweaks and themes.
The tweak in question here, SBBrightness, adds a short menu in the Settings.app. This menu allows you to toggle SBBrightness HUD ON and OFF. This HUD is displayed on the SpringBoard of your device, allowing you to easily set the brightness of your jailbroken device, as per your liking. No other menus or icons are added to the Settings.app and the Home screen, respectively.
Do keep in mind that if you toggle this option, you will have to re-spring your device so that the changes take effect. Without a re-spring, the changes won’t be applied and you will continue to see the HUD on the SpringBoard even if you have toggled it OFF from the Settings.app.
SBBrightness not only adds a slider on your SpringBoard for easy adjustment of the brightness, if you adjust brightness using any other method for example using SBsettings or the Settings.app, the position of the slider will be automatically updated, so that there is no disparity between the adjustments that you have made.
SBBrightness is available for download for absolutely no cost from the BigBoss repository in Cydia. Follow our detailed tutorials on how to jailbreak iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and on how to jailbreak iPad 2 using JailbreakMe 3.0, as you obviously need to jailbreak your iOS device before you can install SBBrightness on it.
Do try this tweak out and let us know what you think!
