Cydia never ceases to amaze us. Every time we start it up, there’s always something that we can’t keep our selves from trying out and reviewing it for you. Previously we have reviewed some amazing Cydia tweaks for you and the one that we are reviewing right now is no less. Its called Apptivator and its unlike any tweak that we’ve ever covered before.
Obviously, jailbreaking your device is a pre-requisite before you can install and use Apptivator on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The best thing about jailbreaking is that it allows you to customize as well as personalize your device in a variety of ways that Apple would not officially allow. That’s the essence behind jailbreaking, however it may also be the cause of concern for app developers as jailbreaking also leads to installing paid iPhone apps for free.
If you’re not already on a jailbroken device, follow our detailed and easy step by step guides to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad 1 and iPod touch on iOS 4.3.4 using redsn0w, iOS 4.3.3 using redsn0w as well as the latest iOS 5 beta 4 using redsn0w. You can follow this tutorial to jailbreak iPad 2 on iOS 4.3.3.
So that aside, lets move on to the actual tweak itself. Its called Apptivator and you can easily locate it in Cydia by simply searching for it. Apptivator allows you to make your icons do more. You can assign Activator listeners to the apps that you are more likely to use on a regular basis. Its particularly useful if you have hundreds of apps installed on your device and would want your favourite ones on the tip of your fingers. Once you purchase and install Apptivator, it automatically integrates in Activator’s preferences and can be located under the “At Home Screen” section.
Apptivator is available for a nominal cost of $2 from Cydia. It is hosted in the modmyi repository and you’re bound to have that repository installed.
If you’d like to have any Cydia tweak reviewed here before you purchase it, don’t hesitate to leave a comment here and tell us about it. We shall definitely write up a review for you.
