As predicted, Apple has released iOS 5 beta 5 for iDevices as an over-the-air (OTA) update, marking the first time Apple pushes an iOS beta update that doesn’t require tethering the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch to a computer. As usual, developers can grab the bits from the iOS Dev Center, alongside iTunes 10.5 Beta 5, Xcode and the iOS SDK.

Apple is gearing up for official release of iOS 5 and iCloud in September and iOS 5 Beta 5 might very well be the last update pushed for developers. iOS 5 Beta 5 will need the newly-released iTunes 10.5 Beta 5 for syncing.
If you’re Jailbroken and trying to get iOS 5 beta 4 via over-the-air (OTA) update, you just might be out of luck as Apple has patched the exploit that was previously being used by many jailbreak tools.
