Major iOS Jailbreakers, Hackers Spotted At DEF CON 19 In Las Vegas

You are gravely mistaken if you take hackers as downright nerds. Actually some of our favourite and insanely popular iOS hackers and jailbreakers were spotted at DEF CON 19 in Las Vegas. Doesn’t make sense for a couple of nerds to be hanging out in Sin City, does it? As we said, don’t ever take a hacker for a nerd.

So what exactly is DEF CON? Only the oldest and continuous running hacker convention in the world. Make no mistake, as DEF CON also happens to be the largest hacker convention in the world.

Usually, DEF CON is scheduled for July or the first week of August in Las Vegas. This year’s hacker convention, DEF CON 19, kicked off on August 4 and will end on August 7. Its taking place at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is a common practice for many DEF CON attendees to arrive the venue a couple of days prior to the actual convention itself and stay for a couple of days after it has ended. It seems only natural, considering the fact that the very best hackers known to earth are present there and it sure is a real treat to get to see them and interact with them, if you’re into that kind of stuff, you know, hacking and stuff.

DEF CON generally attracts around 6000-8000 attendees which is a spectacular number. Apart from the entertaining and enlightening speeches at DEF CON, a number of other activities also take place which include but are not limited t contests, movie marathons, scavenger hunts, sleep deprivation, lock picking, warez trading, drunken parties, spot the fed contest and the official music events.

Enough about DEF CON itself, As you can see in the image embedded above all the famous and well known faces of the iOS jailbreak/hacking community are seen having a great time at DEF CON 19. Jay Freeman a.k.a Saurik, the creator of Cydia, Joshua Hill a.k.a p0sixninja and other members of the Chronic Dev Team and the one and only George Hotz a.k.a Geohot are all present.

Tell us, have you ever attended DEF CON conventions? They really do seem to be fun, fun fun! (pun intended)
