Its the first time for Sprint to invade Apple at the iPhone 4S launch, marking the carrier’s most successful launch breaking both the opening sales record and activation records. Sprint is also the only U.S. carrier that offers unlimited data plan for iPhone users.
Where everything seems tempting, iPhone users on Sprint network had a very bad experience when it came to 3G data transfer speeds. Many users filed complaints of pathetic speeds they experienced on Sprint network. Sprint however remained with their statement that their network performance matches with it rivals.
It was rumored lately that Sprint was working with Apple to sought out this embarrassing data speed issue and now TheNexWeb points to an email that indicates Sprint working with Apple to resolve issues and optimizing performance.
TheNextWeb received an e-mail from Sprint saying:-
Overall, iPhone performance on the Sprint network is consistent with our expectations and the rest of our high-end portfolio. Sprint also did bench-marking of Sprint’s iPhone against competitor’s iPhones and the testing showed little to no performance difference.
We are seeing a very low return rate for this device but we are watching the reports of speed issues very closely. We do see opportunities to optimize performance, specifically in high network capacity areas. We see this as typical optimization work and do not have any specific area of concern.
Sprint is committed to providing the best possible experience for our customers. We are listening to our customers and working closely with our partners at Apple to ensure optimal performance of iPhone devices on our network.
Below is the screenshot of users experiencing slow speeds :-
Sprint also recently discontinued its unlimited data plan support for non iPhone users to shed off the burden from their network in attempt for its users to get consistent speed. Hope Apple and Sprint comes with a speed fix fast, so that the iPhone users can enjoy the benefit of unlimited data plans which has been the main highlight feature of Sprint.
