The rumors regarding Apple working on a major TV project has almost become a reality now ever since Steve Jobs biography came in, and also recently it was reported that the iTunes creator was leading the Apple TV project. Now the sources at The New York Times confirms that Apple TV is indeed a reality.
Apparently things doesn’t quite stops there, Apple doesn’t intend to make any simple TV that is already available. Apple is planning to make this product on the basis of its motto ” Think Different”. That motto has been the main reason for Apple’s success all over these years.
People are very lazy when it comes to TV as when they buy it , they intend to keep it for years. Its not like iPhone that people can afford to buy new models every year. Keeping in view that, Apple has been trying its best to sought out the puzzle.
While Apple can make the user interface easy by integrating the features of Netflix and cable in one platform, the main question arises is, “how to innovate the TV remote concept” ? . Well according to Bilton from The New York Times, Apple had a secret weapon to use for that , ” Siri ” .
Nick Bilton from The New York Times reports :-
It’s the stuff of science fiction. You sit on your couch and rather than fumble with several remotes or use hand gestures, you simply talk: “Put on the last episode of Gossip Girl.” “Play the local news headlines.” “Play some Coldplay music videos.” Siri does the rest.
Of course this experience goes beyond just playing TV shows or the local news. As the line between television programming and Web content continues to erode, a Siri-powered television would become more necessary.
You aren’t going to want to flip through file folders or baskets of content, checking off what you want. Telling Siri to “play videos of cute cats falling asleep” would return an endless YouTube stream of adorable napping fur balls.
Bilton seems confident about his sources and is convinced that Apple is indeed planning to make Apple TV a reality by late 2012 or 2013. Also some reports regarding its prototype floating overseas makes things looks more real.
Up till now all the sources remained anonymous who leaked the information regarding Apple TV project. Only time will tell what Apple is really doing and if its really into this TV business, hope they could make Siri more powerful that would capture the market.
