In an announcement today, Sony Ericsson has announced that its entire Android enabled Xperia handsets will get an updgrade to the new version of Android OS ”Ice Cream Sandwich”.
Ever since the new version of Android was revealed, users had only one thing in mind that if there old Android OS handsets would also get the piece of the 4th version of Android OS or not. Even though today they got their answer, but still the information regarding upgrade timing is still unknown.
Sony Ericsson is reffering to the following 2011 Xperia Handsets for version 4 upgrade :-
- Xperia™ arc and arc S
- Xperia™ PLAY
- Xperia™ neo and neo V
- Xperia™ mini and mini pro
- Xperia™ pro
- Xperia™ active
- Xperia™ ray
- Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman
Google announced Android “Ice Cream Sandwich” last month in October along with Galaxy Nexus, the first smartphone that was announced to have the new Android OS. At the moment no timing of availability of the upgrade is known.
It’s much likely that it would take certain time to merge the new OS with Xperia handsets. We will surely update you when the news hits about the upgrade availability.
