Microsoft’s Cheif Strategy and Research Officer Craig Mundie has been arguing lately that Apple’s voice recognition feature Siri is not new to the market as Microsoft has had the same thing year ago in its Windows phone 7.
He further said that Siri has just been successful because of good marketing and Microsft’s voice recognition software “Tellme” is alos capable of understanding languages just like Sir.
Well, today Jason Cartwright of TechAu has put up a video which shows voice recognition performance of both Apple’s Siri and Windows Phone 7′s TellMe in reaction to the comments made by the Microsoft representative. Watch the video below :-

Well action speaks for itself, judging by the video it seems that Mundie was right about one thing that they did have a voice recognition feature but failed to mention however that not only Apple’s Siri gained attraction because of good marketing but also because of its superior understanding of languages.
The video clearly shows that Microsoft’s Tellme feature is nowhere near Apple’s Siri as it failed to understand all of the tested speech fragments shown in the video. No wonder why such a similar feature in Windows was not given hype as it’s just an ordinary voice to text softwares given no importance.
Also, Tellme just understands the query and put that string in Bing and nothing else whereas Apple’s Siri is a little more complicated as it really provides a full voice recognition experience. Hope Microsoft levels up and next time criticizes when hey really have something to show.
