Apple has released an update for it current version of iOS 5.0.1 which surprisingly allows Siri to port on iPhone 4 legally, as the files required to port Siri are no longer encrypted.
A little recap incase you don’t remember, Siri had been successfully ported to older iPhone models before but there were some files needed from the iPhone 4S to make this port possible but the dilemma was that those files were encrypted.
Although those files could be decrypted by hackers to ge the job done, it would be illegal to use files which were not meant to be accessed as that act would count as piracy.
Now, the updated version of iOS 5.0.1 that Apple released contained those specific files in a decrypted form which makes use of those files legal. It’s still unknown as of why Apple did release the updated iOS 5.0.1 version which contains no new features.
There have been many good news concerning the jailbreak community lately, as pod2g reported dew days ago that untethered jailbreak for iOS 5-5.0.1 is completed which is getting final touches at the moment and now this.
However, it’s still not known if this version comes with further exploits patched or not. At the moment if you haven’t upgraded then don’t !, unless a green signal is given by renowned developers and hackers. We will keep you posted regarding the situation and until then don’t update .
