Have you ever got your iPhone stolen ?. If you had then the first thing you would do will be using Find My iPhone service which lets you wipe all data from your iPhone remotely so that your personal data isn’t accessed and then you would happily or sadly (depending upon your pocket) buy a new version of iPhone available which you were planning to buy anyway.
Sadly there’s more, a new bug in the iMessage has been discovered through which your stolen iPhone can still be used by thieves to monitor or send messages from the owner’s iMessage account.
ArsTechnica :-
Our attention was drawn to this story by Ars reader David Hovis, whose house was recently burglarized and his wife’s iPhone 4S was stolen. According to Hovis, his wife deactivated her iPhone with her carrier, remote wiped it, and immediately changed her Apple ID password—”we picked up a new iPhone the next day, figuring that our insurance would end up paying for it,” Hovis told Ars.
For most users, this would be the end of the story. The phone number had been transferred to a new device and the old one had been deactivated; what more is there to say? A lot, apparently, and in the form of iMessages. The thief who stole Mrs. Hovis’ iPhone had sold the device to an unsuspecting buyer elsewhere in the state, and the buyer had begun sending and receiving iMessages from the phone as Mrs. Hovis—even though the stolen phone had apparently now been activated under a new number.
You must be thinking regarding the solution for this breach, well there are two things which you can do to get out from this mess. Firstly don’t let your iPhone go out of your sight and prevent it from getting stolen ! , yeah i know that is just a prevention and not a solution but still, take care of your expensive gadget.
The only solution at a time is to delete your Apple ID that was associated with device but this is a very painful procedure since this could be a very big problem for few. Deleting your Apple ID means that you lose all your purchases done from iTunes which would be difficult for those who buy very oftenly through iTunes as those purchased items can’t be migrated to another account.
Let’s what Apple does to solve this riddle in the coming times along with other issues like Battery life which they haven’t yet succeeded to solve.
