Last year ended with a huge Christmas gift for users relying on jailbreak as pod2g’s hard work resulted in the development of and untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 running A4 devices. The untethered jailbreak for A5 devices is expected to release very soon.
When it comes to iOS 5.1 of which Apple has already released three beta versions, things are not looking good as there have been many reports circulating on the web which states that the latest Beta version of iOS has reportedly patched all the exploits that Cydia’s Corona uses.
This means that users who upgrade to the latest iOS version 5.1 (when the final version is released) will pay the price of sacrificing their iPhone’s jailbreak privilege. Even though it’s not confirmed yet whether it’s really true if the expolits have been patched, it’s best that you don’t update to the latest iOS firmware 5.1.
As for now it’s best that you update to the current stable version of iOS 5.0.1 to be on the safe side as this firmware version will expire when Apple releases its next iOS firmware 5.1. Stay tuned for more updates.
