Aside from the next Apple-Samsung smartphone rumor-mill, the upcoming gaming consoles of Sony and Microsoft has been gaining almost the same amount of hype by their fans. According to some new rumors from Kotaku which have been somewhat confirmed by IGN, the next generation of Playstaion (reportedly named Orbis) may utilize custom chips based on AMD’s A8-3850 APU and Radeon HD 7670 GPU.
This report suggests that Sony will ultimately not use some new piece of tech that no one has heard after all!, and with rumors floating regarding XBOX till now also suggests that it would also utilize entry level AMD 6670 graphics .
It might seem to be a little dissapointing to see that the PS3 will house an entry level graphics card from AMD but reports suggests that Sony will some how use the in-board 6650D graphics from the A8 APU and combine its power with the GPU and together they would provide raw power to play all the latest titles which demand high specifications.
Currently Sony seems to be tailoring the use of those chips to them to perform as efficient as possible to meet the gamers requirement. Considering the fact that they using cheap products to build the next gen console, it might have less initial price unlike the PS3. Whatever the scenario maybe, Sony is definitely trying to reach out gamers before its rival Microsoft jumps in the action, lets hope both of them come up with something useful.
