Considering to buy the latest Galaxy S3 ?, wondering if the Corning’s Gorilla Glass 2 has the same strength as that of the previous generation Gorilla Glass?, well… apparently the guys from AndroidAuthority conducted a drop test competition between the iPhone 4S and Galaxy S3 and the results were very disappointing. The iPhone 4S getting shattered was pretty much expected as it had been in a drop test before but when it came to the Galaxy S3, the face drop really disappointed us by shattering it’s screen just like the iPhone 4S. The test was a massive eye opener as all the hype fans had for the Corning’s Gorilla Glass 2 was immediately destroyed.
It was advertised that Gorilla Glass 2 being thinner than the first generation glass doesn’t compromise on quality and toughness but now it seems that it had indeed compromised on quality. Just how are we saying that it compromised?, as there any test for the first generation Gorillas glass that we compare to?. Well indeed there is!, last year there was conducted a drop test between iPhone 4S and Galaxy S2. Watch below :-
See how Galaxy S2′s screen sustained such force?, it used the first generation Corning’s Gorilla Glass which is 0.2mm thicker than the current generation glass and now as seen from the test above, appears to be stronger also as it didn’t even had a scratch.
When it was announced that Corning’s Gorilla Glass 2 has the same strength as the first gen glass, people got really excited about the Galaxy S3 smartphone but now with the knowledge that it’s just a piece of cheap garbage, will you buy the new Galaxy? (atleast I won’t now!).
