How To Untethered Jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 Using RedSnow 0.9.12b1 [Without DFU]

With RedSnow being updated to version 0.9.12b1 yesterday, the jailbreak utility finally brought untethered jailbreak support for both A4 and A5 devices running iOS 5.1.1. We have prepared the step bystep jailbreaking procedure at the end of the post.

However, the jailbreaking procedure is a little bit controversial as there are to methods of jailbreaking which includes both DFU and non-DFU modes. The A5 devices rely on the advanced jailbreaking method (non-DFU), whereas the A4 devices can be jailbroken in both ways, but in some cases A4 might need to be jailbroken using the DFU method in case you have a lot of data hanging around your devices.

As mentioned in the heading, we have provided the guide for non-DFU method which can be applied to both A4 and A5 devices.

Step 1: Connect your iOS 5.1.1 device to your computer.

Step 2: Download RedSn0w 0.9.12b1 and run it.

Step 3: Click jailbreak, and wait patiently until the device restores (after restoration you’ll see the Cydia icon).

That’s it!, after the Cydia icon appears, run it so that configures your device. See how easy it was to perform jailbreak without DFU !.
