Windows 8 Pro Upgrade From Win 7-Vista-XP Priced At $39.99

Good news for every Windows users out there, those who are looking forward to ditch their old Windows 7/Vista, heck even XP to Windows 8 Pro would be glad to know that you can upgrade your ageing OS at a nominal price of $39.99 (online) as opposed to the previous rate of $120 last year. Likewise, physical retail copies of the Windows 8 Pro upgrade media will cost $69.99.

You know what’s more exciting!, folks who purchase a Windows 7 computer after June 2 will be able to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for only $14.99 which is virtually nothing. This is the first time since Microsoft has made such a move in contrast to Apple’s OS upgrade strategies.

Also you’ll be provided with a Windows 8 Upgrade assistant to guide you through the process. Like Vista to 7 upgrade, if you upgrade from 7 to 8 all your files, settings, apps will remain intact. However sane would not be the case with Vista as most of the apps might notwork with 8 and if you upgrade from XP, all you can only use files (quite understandable).

Bare in mind that this upgrade offer will be valid till the end of January next year. After that, this promotion will end and you might have to shell out more than $100. It’s worth noting that, although you can download an ISO via the Upgrade Assistant and create your own bootable DVD or USB drive, Microsoft will sell you a backup DVD for $15+shipping.
