Asphalt 7 Android Review, Awful UI and Numerous Bugs!

After an immature delay by Gameloft spanning for more than a month, Android users finally got their hands on the latest Racing Action hit Asphalt 7 which is now available for download via the trusted Google Play store at a nominal price of $0.99.

Like the iOS version Asphalt 7: Heat features revamped graphics, the career mode, more upgrades, more customization options, unlockable new cups and cars and way more. There are in total some sixty vehicles from well-known car manufacturers such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin and the legendary DeLorean. You’ll be able to rock with these cars in fifteen different tracks scattered across the world’s cities, including new locations in Hawaii, Paris, London etc.

The progress leveling in the career mode has been slowed down to increase longevity of the game. It’s mutilplayer mode has also been majorly tweaked as now, aside from using Wifi, local mutliplayer gaming can be performed by using Bluetooth as the connectivity medium. Also new is the Asphalt Tracker, which keeps you up to date with detailed info on how your Gameloft Live friends are advancing, a great feature if you’re a mutliplayer gamer.

However , Asphalt 7 does have its annoying features which may drive some users crazy and in comparison with the iOS version, Asphalt 7 for Android contains numerous bugs which curtails entertainment by a long factor.

Lags :-

After playing the game for few hours, it’s discovered that the game on night maps lags a lot and even in some daylight tracks the game’s performance isn’t much optimized like on the iOS platform. Even on high-end smartphones like Galaxy S2 running ICS versions, users are experiencing intense lags.

Accelerometer Bug :-

Where as handling is concerned, while sterring via acclerometer you’ll get into lot of problems. The control gets stucked in a particular direction while turning the car and even if you place the smartphone dead straight the buggy control will get your car wrecked on multiple occasions no matter how much an expert on Asphalt 6 you were.

Awful UI :-

This is one of those sectors in which Gameloft should have made further improvements over the year but it seems like Gameloft couldn’t have done any worse in this section. As you can see from the picture above, to compare car’s performance you have to click the arrow and check it’s top speed, acceleration etc one by one which is quite a big hassle when you want to compare specs of multiple cars. Now look below.

As you can that Asphalt 6′s UI was tremendous!, in just one view you could see all the specs of the car instead of swiping again and again.

Awkward Social Network spamming :-

After every level completion, it would ask you share your results like another spammy app out there which begs you to post on Facebook. While some might like this feature, for those who don’t want to spam their profiles, there isn’t even an option for stopping this Facebook posting spam.

Rigorous Online Checking  :-

In comparison with Asphalt 6 , this version will not run if you have no internet connection. While it’s understandable that games need to be verified online to counter piracy (yeah right! :D ) the verification process should be the one like used in Asphalt 6 which only verified online periodically after few days, whereas Asphalt 7 will check online every time you run the game!.

Lots of Android users are waiting for Gameloft to release a huge update to address lag bugs but it wouldn’t hurt if they fixed the UI also. Let’s hope Gameloft uses it’s brain and put Asphalt 7 back to it’s original glory.
