Unlike Android devices, Apple’s iPhone doesn’t support connection of USB devices like flash drives, Keyboard, Mouse etc which really sucks when such an occasion arises in which this capability is hugely required. Luckily the Jailbreak devs have come out with a solution through which iPhones can now be as much flexible as Android devices natively are.
Jailbreak dev known as rms has released a new jailbreak tweak by the name of CameraConnector which provides the basic functionality of allowing users to connect USB-based devices to the iPhone or iPad touch in order to make use of them.
So how does this tweak really works (considering the fact that iPhone comes with a 30-pin dock connection point)?, for this tweak to work, you must have an Apple’s iPad Camera Connection Kit that plugs into the bottom of an iOS device, which in turns allows an SD card or the USB cable from a digital camera to be connected into the dongle for photographs transfer.
When the CameraConnector tweak is installed and the iPad Camera Connection dongle is connected, users would have the ability to take additional USB devices (such as such as a keyboard, mice or even game controllers) and plug them directly into the phone for use.
CameraConnector is available for $0.99 from the BigBoss repository and requires iOS 5.0 or higher as well as ownership of the iPad Camera Connection Kit (as discussed above).
The listing in Cydia states that this won’t work on the ipad, but it does! I have an ipad 1 and when I plugged in my keyboard’s usb device to my ipad, I got a message saying that it wasn’t supported, but it works great and it’s wireless.
