Good news for all Galaxy Tab 8.9 Wifi users, Samsung has finally started to roll out ICS 4.0.4 firmware for the model GT-P7310. At the moment this firmware download is currently available for proud USA users of the Galaxy Tab 8.9 WiFi.
The update is available via both OTA and Samsung Kies. If you live in another country and can’t wait for it to come to you officially, you can download the said firmware from the download link provided at the end.
According to the same publication, various other Galaxy Tab models will receive their Android 4.0.x update including:
- GT-P6210 Galaxy Tab Plus 7.0 WIFI
- GT-P6200 Galaxy Tab Plus 7.0 WIFI + 3G
- GT-P6810 Galaxy Tab 7.7 WIFI
- GT-P6800 Galaxy Tab 7.7 WIFI + 3G
- GT-P7300 Galaxy Tab 8.9 WIFI + 3G
- GT-P7510 Galaxy Tab 10.1 WIFI
- GT-P7500 Galaxy Tab 10.1 WIFI + 3G

Previously we reported ICS 4.0.4 being rolled out for Galaxy Tab 10.1 and as mentioned in the post, Sammy did keep up with its promise and pushed put the awaited ICS 4.0.4 update for older Tab version also. I Have the GT-P7310 8.9 WiFi. This is the model that Samsung told me it has not released the ICS ROM for yet. Still no OTA in the USA for this model yet as of today.
For you others that have this model, the latest version of KIES will not connect for you reliably under Win7 64Bit. If you want to see if KIES has an update for you, then uninstall KIES and it’s drivers, GOOGLE search for KIES 2.3.0 and install it, DON”T update KIES, this older version connects just fine under Win 7. I could save you the trouble, no KIES Firmware update available for the GT-P7310 8.9 Tab is available in the USA yet as of today either.
The Good News? At least there is an official ICS ROM out now, hopefully those boys over at Cyanogen will release a Jelly-Bean ROM based on the official ICS Kernel from Samsung for this tablet…….
I Have also the GT-P7310 8.9 WiFi for the Dutch country. And i’am tired to wait for the new ICS 4.04 dutch release. So i decided to flash my tablet with the USA version. It was so easy with Odin I did this in 10 minutes (look on youtube). My tablet works smooth and fast right now that i’am glad i have done it. When jou install the new firmware jou can choose your country so i did this for the Netherlands. Believe me people jou will have no regrets. But after install jour new firmware don’t forget to wipe out jour cache and personal data, this is really important to do. Good luck.
