				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It was just yesterday when iOS users started to get a hang of Google Chrome on their devices and just after few hours, there’s already a jailbreak tweak available that allows you to make it the default browser in iOS as well.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.chiphazard.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Google-Chrome-logo-medium.png" alt="" width="320" height="320" /></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Developed by jailbreak dev <em><strong>Ryan Petrich</strong></em><strong> </strong>, the tweak<em><strong> BrowserChooser</strong></em> allows you to get rid of Apple&#8217;s Safari browser from opening web links by shifting default priorities to Chrome.</p>
<p>Petrich informed via his <a href="https://twitter.com/rpetrich">Twitter account</a>:</p>
<blockquote><p>BrowserChooser is up on rpetri.ch/repo. Loving Chrome for iOS so much that it had to be built.</p></blockquote>
<p>It&#8217;s just like the old Browser Changer tweak (except off-course with Chrome option added now) Once installed, you can make Chrome your iDevice’s default browser via the stock Settings app. This tweak is reported to work upon opening links from Messages, Tweetbot and more.</p>
<p>To install BrowserChooser on your jailbroken device, you’re going to need Ryan Petrich’s repo. If you don’t have it, simply open up Cydia and then tap Manage &gt; Sources &gt; Edit &gt; Add, and type <strong>rpetri.ch/repo</strong>. Once the repo is added, all you have to do is search for BrowserChooser and install it.</p>
<p>Oh and did I mention, this tweak is free to download so headover Cydia now and install this package right away.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>With Google&#8217;s Chrome becoming the No.1 app on the App Store, many iOS users are riddled with the question that if its faster/better than Apple&#8217;s built-in Safari web browser or not. While it can be easily said that Chrome is much better than  Safari in terms of features but when it comes to speed, its speed is almost the same.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><a href="http://www.chiphazard.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/chrome-vs-safari.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7086" title="chrome-vs-safari" src="http://www.chiphazard.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/chrome-vs-safari.jpg" alt="" width="607" height="547" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The only reason why Google Chrome can&#8217;t show its full potential (as it does on a computer) is because Apple doesn&#8217;t allow Chrome or any other web browser to access the Nitro engine which is the main asset to be used in web browsing.</p>
<p>So leaving behind that Nitro Engine, is the Chrome browser still worth it to use in everyday life? Well the initial test done by people suggest that Chrome is equal to (if not better) Safari in terms of fast performance. Check out the videos below.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="
<p><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tss9ZlIMrOA">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tss9ZlIMrOA</a></p>
<p></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">
<p style="text-align: left;">This test shown above doesn&#8217;t account for official stats but still it gives clear indication that Google&#8217;s Chrome isn&#8217;t infact a tortoise when compared to Safari. This performance is done on the stock iOS versions, if it were to be done on jailbroken iOS device, the experience would be much greater than this as it would have Nitro Engine access.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>While Google Chrome has been hanging around with BETA tag on ICS powered devices before, the stable/final version of the most used browser was finally released yesterday for Android users running ICS, but that&#8217;s not all. As promised, Google Chrome has now invaded iOS platform as well, bringing the ultimate browsing experience to iPhone and iPad as well.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><a href="http://www.chiphazard.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Google-Chrome-logo-medium.png"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7004" title="Google-Chrome-logo-medium" src="http://www.chiphazard.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Google-Chrome-logo-medium.png" alt="" width="320" height="320" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>With this universal app, you&#8217;ll be able  to sync bookmarks and tabs between all devices and much much more. Also this would sound like a no brainer but, one of the most annoying thing you would encounter during watching videos on Safari browser is when you navigate to another tab, the video would stop running which would really annoy the user who is let say listening to a song on Youtube.</p>
<p>With Google&#8217;s robust browser, even when you navigate to another tab with the video opened in another, the playback won&#8217;t be interrupted and you&#8217;ll still be able to listen and browse. That offcourse is just of many features that Chrome equips as compared to Safari (who&#8217;s ready for Incognito mode ? ).</p>
<p>You can download Google Chrome for your iPhone/iPad <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/chrome/id535886823">here</a>.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Who doesn&#8217;t love Google&#8217;s <a title="Google Explains Background Apps Feature of Google Chrome Web Browser" href="http://www.chiphazard.com/2011/02/24/google-explains-background-apps-feature-of-google-chrome-web-browser/">signature web browser</a>, <a title="Simpler, Safer and Faster Google Chrome 10 Released" href="http://www.chiphazard.com/2011/03/08/simpler-safer-and-faster-google-chrome-10-released/">Google Chrome</a>? We all do and to make sure that <a title="Google Unveils Chrome 9 While Giving Credit To Reddit Community For Exposing Flaw &amp; Fixing It" href="http://www.chiphazard.com/2011/02/04/google-unveils-chrome-9-while-giving-credit-to-reddit-community-for-exposing-flaw-fixing-it/">Chrome&#8217;s users</a> stay satisfied with it, Google has just fixed a rather critical Adobe Flash Player exploit that can be potentially harmful for computers. The catch here is that <em>only </em>Google has fixed this exploit, whereas users of Flash Players in other browsers shall have to wait until Adobe pushes out the official fix for the exploit.</p>
<p><span id="more-890"></span><a href="http://www.chiphazard.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Chrome-Logo.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-135" src="http://www.chiphazard.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Chrome-Logo-e1300720926828.jpg" alt="Google Chrome Logo" width="500" height="476" /></a></p>
<p>So what exactly is this potentially harmful exploit? Adobe <a href="http://www.adobe.com/support/security/advisories/apsa11-01.html" target="_blank">explains</a>:</p>
<blockquote><p>Acritical vulnerability exists in Adobe Flash Player 10.2.152.33 and earlier versions (Adobe Flash Player 10.2.154.18 and earlier for Chrome users) for Windows, Macintosh, Linux and Solaris operating systems, Adobe Flash Player 10.1.106.16 and earlier versions for Android, and the Authplay.dll component that ships with Adobe Reader and Acrobat X (10.0.1) and earlier 10.x and 9.x versions of Reader and Acrobat for Windows and Macintosh operating systems.</p>
<p>This vulnerability (CVE-2011-0609) could cause a crash and potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system. There are reports that this vulnerability is being exploited in the wild in targeted attacks via a Flash (.swf) file embedded in a Microsoft Excel (.xls) file delivered as an email attachment. At this time, Adobe is not aware of attacks targeting Adobe Reader and Acrobat. Adobe Reader X Protected Mode mitigations would prevent an exploit of this kind from executing.</p></blockquote>
<p>An Adobe spokeswoman has said that Chrome on older versions of Windows will not be affected by this exploit <em>only if</em> Flash Player for <a title="Internet Explorer 9 Mobile for Windows Phone 7 Shown On Video" href="http://www.chiphazard.com/2011/03/20/internet-explorer-9-mobile-for-windows-phone-7-shown-on-video/">Internet Explorer</a> is not installed and Flash is viewed only through Google Chrome.</p>
<p>Google Chrome remains safe from heavy exploitation, as it was seen at the <a title="Geohot Will Try Hacking The Windows Phone 7 Next Week At Pwn2Own" href="http://www.chiphazard.com/2011/03/05/geohot-will-try-hacking-the-windows-phone-7-next-week-at-pwn2own/">annual Pwn2Own competition</a> where Safari and IE8 were hacked, but Google Chrome was left untouched.</p>
<p>Adobe recognizes that this exploit is &#8220;critical&#8221; and that it is going to release a fix later this week. We&#8217;ll follow up, when that happens.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Around a month ago, <a title="Google Unveils Chrome 9 While Giving Credit To Reddit Community For Exposing Flaw &amp; Fixing It" href="http://www.chiphazard.com/2011/02/04/google-unveils-chrome-9-while-giving-credit-to-reddit-community-for-exposing-flaw-fixing-it/">Google unveiled Chrome 9</a> and now, the internet search giant that is Google, has announced a new stable release of Google Chrome 10,which features a new settings interface, password synchronization, and Flash Player sandboxing.</p>
<p style="text-align: left"><span id="more-774"></span><a href="http://www.chiphazard.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Chrome-Logo.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-135" src="http://www.chiphazard.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Chrome-Logo.jpg" alt="Google Chrome Logo" width="500" height="300" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: left">Google claims that even your most complex Chrome web apps will run more responsively in Chrome 10.</p>
<blockquote>
<p style="text-align: left">Chrome’s new settings interface will help you get to the right settings quickly so you don’t have to dig endlessly to find a way to import your bookmarks or change your browser’s homepage. We’ve added a search box that shows you the settings you’re looking for, as you type. On top of that, you can also copy and paste a direct link into Chrome’s address bar to jump to a specific settings page.</p>
<p>For those of you who save your passwords in the browser, you can now quickly log on to the websites you frequent even when you switch computers, by simply synchronizing those passwords across your computers. You can also encrypt those passwords with your own secret passphrase for extra security. To enable sync on each of your computers, visit the “Personal Stuff” section in Chrome’s settings (or just type “sync” in the settings search box). You can also choose to sync bookmarks, extensions, preferences, themes and more.</p>
<p>Finally, you’ll be even safer as you speed around the web, as we’ve extended Chrome’s sandboxing technology to the integrated Flash Player in Chrome. So if you’re using Windows Vista or newer versions, you’ll benefit from the additional layer of protection against malicious webpages.</p>
</blockquote>
<p style="text-align: left">Your current Google Chrome version can be upgraded to Chrome 10 through the auto update mechanism of Chrome. Or you can:</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Google has been highlighting some to the really awesome features that are coming to <a href="http://www.chiphazard.com/2011/02/04/google-unveils-chrome-9-while-giving-credit-to-reddit-community-for-exposing-flaw-fixing-it/" target="_blank">Google Chrome</a> on their <a href="http://blog.chromium.org/2011/02/amping-up-chromes-background-feature.html" target="_blank">Chromium Blog</a>. Today, they&#8217;ve highlighted out of the best there is, and that is Background Apps. More on that, after the break.</p>
<p><span id="more-564"></span><a href="http://www.chiphazard.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Chrome-Background.png"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-565" src="http://www.chiphazard.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Chrome-Background.png" alt="Google Chrome Background Apps" width="400" height="243" /></a></p>
<p>Actually the Background Apps feature has been seen on various builds of Chrome/Chromium since quite a while now, however Google wasn&#8217;t publicizing it so it was unclear how this particular feature would be used. So basically, Chrome-based web apps will always be open but hidden in the background.</p>
<blockquote><p>Apps and extensions that use the new “background” feature can continue to run in the background—even if the user closes down all of Chrome’s windows. “Background apps” will continue to run until Chrome exits. The next time Chrome starts up, any background windows that were previously running will also be re-launched. These windows are not going to be visible but they will be able to perform tasks like checking for server-side changes and pre-emptively loading content into local storage.</p>
<p>One way you can use background windows is to preload content and data so that they are immediately available when the user opens your app. You could also issue HTML5 notifications to alert the user when important events occur—for example, a friend wants to initiate a chat session. There are plenty of possibilities here, and we look forward to seeing what you’ll do.</p></blockquote>
<p>For those who see a potential privacy risk here, since you wouldn&#8217;t know if any app in open in the background and has the ability to ping you, Google says:</p>
<blockquote><p>To protect our users’ privacy, we’ve made this functionality available only to apps and extensions; regular websites will not be able to open background windows. Developers will also need to declare the “background” capability on their apps.</p></blockquote>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Google Chrome is one browser that has definitely made its mark in the web browser arena. This particular browser has turned out to be the most popular choice of many internet users considering the fact that it boasts a simple and clean layout while being fast as well. The Chromium platform, upon which Google Chrome is based, has also be used by social web browsers such as Flock for their own customized web browsers. Now, Google has rolled out another version of the browser, its Chrome 9.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><a href="http://www.chiphazard.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Chrome-Logo.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-135" src="http://www.chiphazard.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Chrome-Logo.jpg" alt="" width="511" height="487" /></a></p>
<p>Chrome 9 is going to be a stable version of this browser however Google doesn’t make any mention of the version number in the <a href="http://chrome.blogspot.com/2011/02/dash-of-speed-3d-and-apps.html" target="_blank">official blog post</a> about the update.</p>
<p>In this build, Google brings three new major features:</p>
<ol>
<li>WebGL</li>
<li>Chrome Instant</li>
<li>Chrome Web Store</li>
</ol>
<p>Google explains the details of these new features:</p>
<blockquote><p>WebGL is a new technology which brings hardware-accelerated 3D graphics to the browser. With WebGL in Chrome, you can experience rich 3D experiences right inside the browser with no need for additional software. Curious about the three-dimensional possibilities? Try out these demos to experience the power of WebGL in the latest stable version of Chrome.</p>
<p>With Chrome Instant (à la Google Instant), web pages that you frequently visit will begin loading as soon as you start typing the URL. (“Look, Mom &#8211; no enter key!”). If supported by your default search engine, search results appear instantly as you type queries in the omnibox. To try out Instant, you’ll need to enable it in the Basics tab of Chrome’s options.</p>
<p>Lastly, the Chrome Web Store is now open to all Chrome users in the United States. As part of this, we’ve now added a link to the Chrome Web Store on the New Tab page, along with two sample apps. (If you don’t use these sample apps, they will automatically disappear after some time).</p></blockquote>
<p>However, the funny part is that <a href="http://googlechromereleases.blogspot.com/2011/02/stable-channel-update.html" target="_blank">Google gives credit</a> to the Reddit community for pointing out a potential flaw in Chrome 9. It says:</p>
<blockquote><p>Special thanks to the Reddit community, for playing so much of the game “Z-Type” that they uncovered a Chromium audio bug — see below!</p></blockquote>
<p>The bug:</p>
<blockquote><p>[<a href="http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=69195">69195</a>] Critical Race condition in audio handling. Credit to the gamers of Reddit!</p></blockquote>
<p>The classification of this particular bug aside, it is funny to see that Google doesn’t feel bad in giving credit to those who expose flaws in its product.</p>
